Savannah Dance Festival 2012

Amateur: Matthew Buckingham
Professional: Rachael Moore

To all those who missed this competition, you need to attend it next year.  All of the competitors did a fantastic job! The Savannah Dance Festival visits Savannah every year in January at the Riverfront Marriott on Bay Street.  Seven states were represented at the competition! People from New Mexico, Florida, North Carolina, Boston, and our very own peach state! The day started off with the American Smooth division which is Foxtrot, Waltz, Tango, and Viennese Waltz.  Matthew Buckingham competed in the bronze division for Foxtrot and danced beautifully! Next that morning, the International Standard division competed.  Standard consists of Quickstep, Foxtrot, Waltz, and Viennese Waltz.  The elegant gowns and handsome tuxes were fabulous!
After lunch, the American Rhythm division and International Latin division kicked off! Matthew Buckingham danced in the bronze division for Bolero.  American Rhythm consists of Swing, Cha Cha, Bolero, Rumba, Hustle, Mambo and Samba.  The Latin division pulled the Samba, Cha Cha, Salsa, International Rumba, and Jive together.
Overall, Matthew danced in 6 categories and placed 1st place in 5 and a 2nd place in one.  We are very proud of him!!!
After the competition, The Atlanta Dance Theater stole the show!!! With some of the spiciest music out, they put the audience in a trance with the story told through their dances.  The Atlanta Dance Theater, headed by Eddie Ares, travels all over the country planning shows! Every show they perform in, they always leave turning the crowd into lovers of this sport.
Make sure you mark your calendars for next year's Savannah Dance Classic! If you are interested in watching or becoming a dancer, there is no better time to start than now! Get your booty in gear- call today! Your next goal could be to dance in 2013's Savannah Dance Festival.

I wish I could dance like this. I always dreamed about the ball but never got the courage to start learning dancing.

That's funny. I always thought motivating writers was like herding cattle, but although I live in Wyoming, I know little about the subject other than what I learned years ago in a high school western history class.
